Give Feedback

8 July 2008

As part of our support for students who have problems in all areas especially when they have friendship problems or feel they are being bullied, we have put into place the Pastoral Support Team. This is a team of pastoral assistants who are available to work with students every day. They will also be the first point of contact for you if your child has any worries. The people within these new roles are pictured below.

  Mrs Kathy St.John
KS4 Pastoral Assistant
Mrs Angie Longdin
KS3 Pastoral Assistant
Mrs Helen Palmer
Medical Co-ordinator

We provide a range of support services for students (listed below) and following our student survey we would like to ask for further suggestions of any ways we could add to these services. We would also appreciate it if you could let us know of forms of support that have worked well. Please follow the link below to leave feedback.

These are some of the support systems we put in place to try and stop bullying and to help anyone who is having problems getting on with other students in any way.

Please suggest any other ways we could help.

  • The anti-bullying code is in the homework diaries
  • Anti-bullying leaflets are given out in Year 7
  • PHSE offers chances to talk about friendship problems and bullying
  • Drama groups come in to help us think about the issue
  • Videos about bullying shown in school
  • Videos about racism shown in school
  • Tutors will listen and offer advice
  • Friends will listen and offer advice
  • Make new friends
  • Heads of Year will talk to parents and other students
  • Arrange for students who have fallen out to sit separately in class
  • Agree that students go to different places at break/lunch
  • Arrange for an older student to talk through problems (peer mentors)
  • Arrange for an older student to support on the bus
  • Move student to a different tutor or teaching groups
  • Talk to other adults in the school (like Mrs Rees) about problems
  • Talk to the counsellors who come in weekly
  • Attend a confidence building group to learn how to be assertive
  • Talk to the school nurse
  • Help lines like Childline are advertised on posters round school
  • Student forum to discuss bullying issues to put ideas forward
  • Parent workshop to include parents in the discussions
  • With serious bullying the Headteacher will exclude students temporarily and sometimes permanently

Thank you for your co-operation and we look forward to hearing your views in this exciting new development.
